Movement and Mystery

“The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High
will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35

My painting “Movement and Mystery” is based on the Gospel of Luke 1:35. In the painting Mary’s posture is one of submission with her hands held out in acceptance, allowing God’s word to be fulfilled. In Scripture the Holy Spirit is sometimes described as wind or as fire and I depict these two elements in the painting. The brushstrokes create the motion of wind working within a colorful fire. The Holy Spirit overshadows Mary and envelopes her. I used vibrant colors throughout the painting to express the awesomeness of this event!! The birth of Jesus changed all of human history and is God’s greatest gift to us. My hope is that “Movement and Mystery” will be used by the Holy Spirit to draw the viewer to Him.

Capturing the American Experience

My launch into art began with a painter born in Sarajevo, Iso Papo, my college art professor. He encouraged me to keep a brush in my hand, and I never looked back.

My Ukrainian grandparents’ journey to this country shaped me, and now I capture on canvas the beauty of the American experience they pursued.

Profoundly influenced by iconic architecture like the U.S. Capitol, I paint expressions of glory, which are only exceeded by God’s natural beauty.
